Road Surface Temperature
Weather has enormous influence on the condition of the road surface. During hot weather the asphalt can reach a temperature of more than 500 C. This can result in deformation of the asphalt. During cold weather the temperature of the road surface can reach temperatures below zero. In foggy conditions, the road can get slippery.
These road conditions can influence the reactions of cars by abrupt steering actions or at acceleration or deceleration. When a car driver is not aware of these influences, unsafe situations can occur.
By using types of TEKSTKAR, Van Deuveren Traffic has developed an opportunity, to inform car drivers about the temperature or the condition of the road surface, so the car driver can anticipate on the new situation and customize his driving behavior. This will prevent accidents and will have a positive influence on road safety.
